Courses
Tuesday Silversmith evenings:
This includes the chance for beginners and intermediate students to create items such as small cutlery pieces, e.g., spoons and fruit knives, pill boxes or similar, along with rings, bangles and other jewellery trinkets. Also Delft Silver Casting.
Wednesday Bronze Evenings:
Crafting of bangles, rings, pendants and earrings. If desired, perhaps even a small spoon in bronze.
Small amounts of silver may be used as a contrasting metal with the bronze.
The cost of materials is to be payed directly to the tutor on the day of the course and will charged per gram weight used.
Thursday Silversmith evenings:
For beginners and pre-intermediates. Make bangles, beaded bracelets, rings, pendants, earrings, items combining other suitable metals with silver, designs with piercing - perhaps even EF enamelling of the same, (see contacts page for an example). Additionally, you might want to convert an old item of cutlery to an item of jewellery or an old coin to a spoon. Anything is possible with our silversmithing projects. Payment for materials will be estimated on the second week of the course and would not be expected to exceed £40 in the majority of cases. Gems and stones can be provided at a moderate cost if required.
Saturday Silversmithing (all day course):
A workshop that is open to creativity and aimed at a varied mix of beginners to intermediate and beyond. EF enamelling and all small
silversmithing projects considered. Students have a chance to bring in their own items in need of repair or adjustment or
convert items that are no longer wanted in their present form. Alternatively you may just make rings, bangles, simple
necklaces, pendants, earrings or convert an item of cutlery to jewellery. For those that are interested, Delft Silver Casting is
also available.
All materials are provided, however you may use your own if preferred; (please see the home page for more details);
n.b. this is mandatory if you want objects made or repaired in gold or other precious metals.
The cost of materials is to be payed directly to the tutor on the day of the course and will charged per gram weight used.
General workshops:
We allow our intermediate and more advanced level students to undertake their own projects on Tuesdays, Thurdays and the occasional Wednesday evenings, plus the all day Saturday sessions. Please note, our courses are always well attended as they are by far the cheapest in the south, (possibly the country), and we have occasional students coming from as far away as the Midlands to take part, so please book your places early!
A nice ring fashioned from the blade of a solid silver fruit knife.
Diamond design with bronze cross on an EF enamelled, (finely-ground glass and coloured pigment), background.
